Romanian Point Lace is a crocheted tape needle lace originating in Italy in the 18th century.   Romanian Point Lace is a surprisingly easy technique.

Sylvia Murariu

 

Sylvia was brought up in Romania, where she learned Point Lace technique when she was 10 years old.  She has over 40 years experience in stitching and designing.  She is a teacher, designer and has authored three books (self-published), a video tape and countless lace designs.

 

She is very enthusiastic in sharing her knowledge in a form of art which is not very well known.  In 1990 Sylvia started to teach in the United States her work was published in Needle Arts, International Lace Magazine

and Piece Work Magazine.

She has taught at the EGA National Seminar in 2001 & 2003, at several EGA Chapters in Southern California.  Brazilian Embroidery seminars, Lace conventions, meetings and workshops.  She gives lectures about Romanian Point Lace.

 

Besides her specialty (Romanian Point Lace) she designs and teaches bead work and dimensional embroideries.
