Sandia Mountains Chapter

The Chapter meets the second Tuesday of the month at 9:30 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church, 10,000 Candelaria NE, in Albuquerque, with programs of speakers and hands-on presentations. Other informal stitching get-togethers are held in members’ homes each month. Dues are $50 per year which includes a subscription to the chapter newsletter, La Bordadora, and access to the chapter’s large library and all national and region events. NEW MEXICO WILDFLOWERS FOR EMBROIDERY


Fourteen New Mexico wildflowers from the Albuquerque / Santa Fe area have been selected for this spiral bound book. There are line drawings of the flowers for surface embroidery and full page easy-to-read graphs coded for DMC colors, backstitching and other embellishments. Two color pages show all the flowers worked in cross stitch plus there is a graphed alphabet for labeling the embroidery. The publication sells for $20.00.

Learn about early colonial wool embroidery from New Mexico. Working with handspun wool on hand-woven wool fabric, women from the late 1700s in northern New Mexico created bedspreads, altar cloths and table runners to decorate their homes. The colcha embroidery stitch is easy to learn. This booklet of 30 pages tells the history of colcha embroidery, current revivals, traditional designs and techniques. Illustrated with line drawings.
